Good article by Phil Wainewright over at ZDNet.
A little late on the response here – but I might even challenge the claimed SaaS deployments of Authoria and SuccessFactors. I don’t doubt that they have deployments of the size claimed – but I might question whether or not these large deployments are running the same code base as their other large deployments.
While *single code base* seems like kind of a geeky criteria for SaaS – it turns out to be a very critical one. *single code base* means deployment via configuration without any client specific customization. This is what gives speed to go-live, ensures application quality and eliminates upgrade/support issues.
I would like to know if they are really *single code base* deployments.
