Nice onboarding article from Brian Platz of Silkroad posted at About.com. My company – RealLife HR – provides a simple onboarding application to a number of our clients. Web based application enables new employee who has accepted an offer to fill out all the paperwork and enroll in benefits before showing up at work. (And they don’t have to fill in their address – even once!) Not a huge deal, but certainly gets it out of the way and make a great first impression.
From the article:
“Don’t make day one all about paperwork. Instead, prioritize interpersonal relationships with key colleagues. Consider assigning welcome mentors to each new hire, so they can immediately get a feel for the personality of your organization. This day of first impressions will have an enormous impact on the employee experience, so make it a good one.”
